Working as a therapist and intuitive has shown me how difficult it is for people to trust their own inner voice.

Where did all this self doubt come from?

First of all, those of us in the Western culture have been programmed by the media to value fame, fortune and beauty.

When we see powerful business people, sports stars, supermodels and the luxurious lifestyles of celebrities we judge our lives by these unrealistic standards and feel like we don’t measure up.

They seem to be immersed in the non-stop pleasure of a glamorous life however a closer look will reveal the underlying emotion that over achievers have in common; the feeling of not being good enough.

This is what often drives people to be famous then catapults them into a life of over-indulgence, addiction and even suicide when they realize how empty they feel on the inside.

How many times has your intuition given you a message? Don’t walk down that street….be careful driving…something is not right about that person….It happens to us all, we hear the inner voice.

Some call it the higher self, a guardian angel, or the Holy Spirit. In the Bible it is referred to as “The small still voice.”

Not the loud, banging, shouting, screaming over all your daily thoughts and worries voice.

All human beings are capable of hearing the inner voice but most do not listen.

How many times have you said; I went out with that person even though….I had a feeling this wasn’t going to work out but….I took the job even when I had bad vibes about my boss….etc.

The problem begins when we hear the voice and refuse to listen.

Imagine that you had a best friend and you were always warning them and helping them but they did not value you enough to graciously accept your wisdom. When you see the yellow light of caution flashing do not wait until it turns red.

Your inner voice is wisdom personified. It is your best friend and in my opinion it is the voice of your soul. You soul comes from the Divine, is part of the Divine and truly loves you…just the way you are.

Now if you could only love yourself exactly the way you are.

What would your life look like if you stopped comparing yourself to other people. How would you feel about doing what you love for a living and not trying to be rich. Could you look in the mirror and be ok with; seeing a few wrinkles, gaining 5 pounds or losing a few hairs.

One of my favorite Indian mystics has a saying, “Stop trying to change and improve yourself, love and accept yourself exactly the way you are and let life change you.”

I invite you to start acting on your intuition.

Trust it like a life jacket when you are adrift at sea. Acknowledge it. Thank it.

One day you will trust it so much that you will never argue or ignore it even when what it tells you seems impossible.

Remember it is possible to trust yourself completely and discover what it feels like to be being guided in the right direction.
